Transport
Getting around Perth is very easy.
The city and outlying suburbs are served by a modern train system and buses are readily available throughout Perth. Ferries are also available for transport across the Swan river.
In addition taxis and limousines are readily available for hire.
Within the central city area is a free transit zone which allows commuters to travel on either buses or trains for free.
The transit free zone is provided every day of the week and stretches from Kings Park to the Causeway, and Northbridge to the Swan river.
The road system in Perth is very easy to navigate.
There are 2 major freeways running north and south of the city which provide easy access into and out of the city. From the heart of the city you can be swimming in the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean within 15 minutes.
In Australia cars drive on the left hand side of the road.
If you intend to drive in Australia you should obtain an Australian driving license if your stay is for more than 3 months.
