On-line Application for an Electronic Student Visa
Student visas are issued by the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC).
To facilitate the issue of visa’s you can apply on-line in certain circumstances.
If you are outside Australia you can apply online for an initial student visa.

If you are inside Australia you can apply for an initial student visa, student visa extensions, accompanying family member visas and apply for permission to work.
Outside Australia
On-line Electronic Visa Application Requirements
To apply for an electronic visa if outside Australia you must satisfy the following requirements :
- be 18 years of age or over.
- be from an Assessment Level 1 country e.g France, Belgium, Denmark etc
See: Country Assessment Levels. - not be applying more than 124 days prior to the commencement of your course(s)
- not apply for a visa for any family unit members.
- have a current passport valid for their period of stay in Australia.
- your passport should be valid for the entire period of your proposed stay in Australia or, as a minimum, your passport should have 6 months validity at the time of your visa application to prevent any travel difficulties.
- you must also ensure that the personal details (full name, date of birth etc) and passport details you give in your visa application exactly match the details in your passport.
- have a Confirmation of Enrolment (COE) issued by Kingston International College for the principal course you wish to undertake, and for any preliminary course(s).
- have an acceptable credit card.
- the application charge for a Student visa application lodged electronically on the Internet must be paid by credit card. The Department accepts the following credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Diners Club International, Bankcard and JCB.
- have access to sufficient funds as required under the Migration Regulations
- satisfy the health requirements as required under the Migration Regulations

- all students must have evidence of valid health cover before a decision can be made to grant them a Student visa.
- you will have to pay for Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
- students from Norway and Sweden do not need to obtain OSHC if they are covered by acceptable health insurance schemes from their home countries.

- the information you provide at the 'Character Declaration' section of application form enables an assessment to be made in respect of your character.

Processing and enquiry times
Student visa applications submitted electronically are usually processed within 5 to 10 working days.
Where you are requested to undertake medical and x-ray examinations, or provide other information and documentation, processing may take longer.
To avoid delays in processing your application it is in your interest to respond as soon as possible to requests to undertake medical and x-ray examinations, or to provide additional information and documentation.
Important:
You should wait for notification that your Student visa has been granted before booking travel to Australia.
Please note that if your electronic Student visa application is lodged outside Australia, you must also be outside Australia at the time of visa grant.
Refunds are not available if clients enter Australia on another type of visa before their Student Visa application has been decided.
